Boutique Investors Ramp Up Interest In Chemicals

Boutique private equity chemical investors SK Capital Partners (New York) and Arsenal Capital (New York) have been on a tear recently, buying up assets sold by public companies and building chemicals portfolios to rival much bigger names both in private equity and at large corporations. SK Capital’s chemicals businesses post $7 billion/year in sales, while Arsenal’s generate $2. L billion. SK Capital’s portfolio includes TPC Group; Addivant, formerly Chemtura’s UV stabilizers business; and Ascend Performance Materials, formerly Solutia’s nylons business.
